The Unique Osian

Base camp Hacra Dhani is in Thar Desert around Jodhpur near Osian town. 19km north west of osian, HACRA Dhani desert camp is en route (Jodhpur to Jaisalmer) via Osian, Phalodi-Khichan makes an ideal camel safari and desert village overnight stop for travelers, those who would like to experience life in small desert hamlets, rich in traditional living, people and wild animals together! Camel is only mode of transportation so called Camel Safari.

Osian is an ancient village of Thar Desert famous for its Hindu and Jain temples (8th -12th centuary old) Khichan is famous for home of migratory birds Demoiselle Cranes comes every year from Oct. to March. Gemar Singh is recommended by lonely planet guide book 2009 for camel safaris, camping, jeep village safari,desert walk and village home-stay (traditional desert style hut or open sky under the stars!) camel safari in Rajasthan surrounding Osian's desert, as yet unspoiled by tourism. Base camp HACRA Dhani is in area around Osian-Jodhpur where there are many gazelle and peacocks hamlets of bhisnoi, bhil and Rajputts. An experience of desert culture, people and it’s wild life. Using locally owned services, buying supplies from village shops, visiting local craftsmen and weavers at work, is also team's aim to bring economic and socially benefits to natives and an experience for guest. At base camp one can experience local culture as camp is in close proximity of rural hamlets so called 'DHANI and area as yet unspoiled by safari tourism alike Jaisalmer or Bikaner.

•       Birding of migratory cranes at Kichen (During October-March) and wildlife watching. You may also get chance to interact with Bishnoi tribes on your way from Jodhpur to Osian.
 
•       Camel/ Jeep Safari of desert villages and sand dunes.

Itinerary
 
DAY 1 –
 
Arrive at Jodhpur around 1 pm have lunch in a restaurant café near osian
 
 Stop for watching the Bishnoi samaj and the watch Black Buck.
 
Reach Osian take some rest then start Camel safari. Enter in the Thar Desert camel-back. Walk up and down with a secular rhythm, between millenaries dunes and get a chance to approach their mysteries.
 
This camel Safari also provide you high chances of getting glimpses of Dear, Blue bull, different birds etc .
 
Rest in homestay for the night to enjoy the relaxing night at your hut/ Camp.
 
DAY 2—
 
Have an early morning breakfast at 8 am.
 
Leave for Khichan to watch migratory Demoiselle (Cranes) which come from Mongolia between Oct to March.
 
After Kheechan move to a village called Kumaraon ki Dhani in Bikamkor  where from 5 generations weavers are making Carpets made of Camel’s hair and cotton. The local name of the carpet is Gande means dirty because of its feature that it doesn’t get dirty how much one uses it.
 
After this move to a village  Sathri in Pahlodi tehsil where the Meghwalon ki Dhani is a hamlet where local artisans make Mojaris (jhootis) for 3 generations.
 
Back to home stay. One can also learn the local cuisine else just eat dinner and rest for the night.
 
DAY 3—
 
Eat breakfast early morning and leave for Jodhpur
 
Reach Jodhpur after 1 and Half hour. Visit Mehrangarh Fort, Umed Bhawan Palace which well known tourist attractions of the place.
 
Have lunch and move to onward destination.
