Place Description:-
Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary is a beautiful, quiet and wild Himalayan destination with rich natural surroundings among dense forest. Filled with over 200 species of resident and migratory birds and wildlife such as-leapord , barking dear, ghoral, wild boar , pine martin, Fox, porqupine,languor.
Binsar is perched on top of the Jhandi Dhar hills. This place is situated 33 km north of the Almora town in the Uttarakhand state ofIndia.
From Binsar one can see the 300 km panoramic view of the Himalayan peaks like Kedarnath Peak, Shivling, Trisul and majesticNanda Devi from a place called 'Zero Point'.
Binsar was the summer capital of the Chand Kings, who ruled over Kumaon, from 11th to 18th centuries AD. Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary was established in 1988, for the conservation and protection of the shrinking broad leaf oak (Quercus) forests of the Central Himalayan region, and it inhabits 200 bird species.

Binsar Retreat is located at Binsar a sanctuary and reserve forest 30 kms uphill from Almora. Binsar Retreat is a Camp Retreat situated at 7500 ft above sea level at the South West Flank of the Sanctuary deep into the Core area. The Binsar Retreat is known for its ecological tourism and stunning Himalayan and forest views, and is situated at a height of 7500 feet 30 kms NE of Almora in Kumaon. The philosophy of the Retreat is to care for and conserve nature and to provide our guests with an experience in the forest which emphasizes on the importance of conserving the delicate balance between man and nature.
