The Westview - Ranikhet

As the legend goes, Ranikhet is named after an ancient queen who fell in love with this place when she visited it and made the place her home. Discovered by British in 1869, this place offers a panoramic view of the majestic Himalayas, ranging from the Bhagirathi peaks in the west to Nanda Kot in the east. Ranikhet is definitely a tourist's paradise without being as crowded or as ‘popular’ as a Nainital or a Mussoorie. With the panoramic views of the Western Himalayas it has also got an added attraction of ancient temples, pretty picnic spots and quite strolls. The picturesque snow-capped mountains in the distance, pine forests, and the native flora and fauna are just some of the things that make a traveler return to this destination again and again.

Amidst all the natural beauty situated on a plateau overlooking the west valley, surrounded by pine and fir forests, covering an area of 5.25 acres stands 'The West View'. A family run business since 1957, with heritage buildings dating back to 1918.

Being located near the cantonment area, The westview offers complete solitude and peace of mind. The West View boasts of 9 suites and 11 double rooms. The most popular annexe block houses ‘The West View and The West Mount Suites’, furnished in the Queen Annes style, the sit out Café , The Oak garden, the Coffee Shop and the Dining Room offer a choice of multi cuisines. The building, built mostly in stone and having sloping roofs offers a true old world aura and charm that so tugs at your heart. Despite the old style furnishing, the rooms have been fitted in with contemporary luxuries and needs such as televisions and modern bathrooms, most rooms also offer a lovely panoramic view of the Himalayas. One of the most favorite places at the Westview is the Lounge where you can spend a leisurely evening sitting by the fire. Another lovely place to spend time lazing at is the Marquees style colonial garden sit out where you can order your breakfast or lunch and feel blessed surrounded by the tall, green pines.

Centrally located to explore the entire Kumaon region, Ranikhet offers great value to the discerning traveler and staying at the Westview at Ranikhet is the best way to make the most out of your vacation.
